When the crop arrives to the warehouse, a pre-sorting is made, so we can eliminate cut or damaged products, soil and dirt. A second sorting will follow when the products are ready for packing, we also calibrate the different products as desired by the client.
Our group owns two big warehouses with a 10000 ton capacity, fully equipped with ventilation and humidification systems as the EU standards require.
There is a calibration standard set for each type of product. For example, bulk potatoes are of 50-70 mm, there are often packed in 10 or 25 kg bags later; smaller ones of 40-60 mm are packed in plastic bags for supermarkets. Yellow onions are calibrated to 50-70 mm, smaller ones also to 40-60 mm. Carrots are standardized to 70-250 mm.
Each warehouse is equipped with an Ekko multifunctional packaging line for all types of packing for each product we have. BULK means packed in 10/15/20/25 kg Rachel bags , for potatoes and onions, carrots are usually packeg in 10 or 20 kg bags. Packaging requirements in smaller plastic/ Rachel bags came from supermarkets. We can pack potatoes in Rachel bags of 1,5 / 2 / 2,5 kgs, yellow onions in 2 / 2,5 kg bags, carrots in 1 kg plastic bags. Big bag packaging is mainly used for potatoes destined to dehydration / industrialization.
